Enhanced Access to Higher Education for Female Students from Ethnic Minorities
VinaCapital Foundation (VCF) and Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund recently held the Annual Empowerment Meeting in Hanoi on August 17. This event is part of the Brighter Path program, which supports academically excellent ethnic minority girls from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Empowerment Meeting, themed “Proud to Shine,” aims to celebrate a successful school year and provide the girls with the necessary skills for their upcoming milestones. Attended by 49 scholars from various regions of Vietnam, the 4-day program took place in the capital city of Hanoi.

The Empowerment Meeting included workshops and cultural activities designed to expose the girls to Vietnam’s history, provide opportunities to learn from inspirational leaders, and equip them with essential skills for career development and personal growth.
The workshop sessions covered topics such as soft skills for the 21st century, career orientation, and financial literacy. The girls also had the chance to visit historical sites including Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, Hoa Lo Prison Relic, Hai Ba Trung Temple, and Bat Trang Pottery Village, gaining a deeper understanding of Hanoi’s rich heritage.

The Brighter Path program provides full scholarship support for 7 years, covering 3 years of high school and 4 years of university education. The program aims to create educational opportunities for girls from ethnic minority backgrounds and reduce poverty in Vietnam through education and training initiatives. Since its inception in 2010, the Brighter Path program has awarded 2,351 scholarships to disadvantaged ethnic minority students, offering fully-funded school scholarships, informal education, and essential skills training. The first group of scholars has successfully graduated from university and college and is actively contributing to sustainable improvements in their local communities. The Brighter Path program reflects the commitment of Vu A Dinh Scholarship Fund and VinaCapital Foundation to build a more resilient Vietnam. It aims to empower bright ethnic female students to become confident advocates for Vietnamese culture and economic growth in their communities, transforming their own lives and those of others. |
