Vietnamese man earns high income from raising iguanas

The 26-year-old resident of Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District started his side business with an initial investment of around VND50 million (US$2,144), along with five male iguanas and seven females. To date, his farm has up to 30 female iguanas and multiple male species. Female iguanas lay over 30 eggs once a year. Baby iguanas of 3-4 months old can be available for sale. Iguanas, often inhabiting Central and South America, especially in the Caribbean, have a healthy immune system and are quite friendly toward humans.  The reptile is fed vegetables, pumpkins, carrots, bananas, and jackfruits which need chopping and mixing with digestive enzymes and a number of nutrients. Studying in the second grade at a government school and a resident of Munad Guffan village in Kulgam district of South Kashmir, Momin’s innovation is likely to make the poultry business cheaper in the foreseeable future. His invention intends to benefit small-scale farmers and the local chicken industry by creating a controlled environment for egg hatching. Momin’s amazement with the market’s profusion of multicoloured chicks led to his desire to build an incubator. Speaking to the ANI, Momin said, “I was rearing desi (broiler) chickens, but they weren’t hatching eggs. Hence I worked on creating a low-cost egg incubator for about two years and eventually came up with it. An incubator is usually...

Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporters followed a concrete path from the heart of Tam Hai to Thuan An Village, near Ban Than Cape, which is an attraction on the island, to reach the two ancient wells under the guidance of some locals. On a clean and clear land lot, the journalists saw one of the two aged wells, which does not appear to be different from modern ones at first glance.  It is around ten meters deep and is made of brick, with a round mouth and a wall of concrete. However, there is a horizontal cave down the well, according to locals.
