Ho Chi Minh City Implements Solar-Powered Trash Cans to Promote Waste Sorting

District 11 will install 84 solar-powered trash cans on sidewalks, in the yards of state agencies, and at schools. The current public trash cans are set to be gradually replaced by green rubbish bins . In the first quarter of 2019, the administration of District 5 launched a pilot program to install 21 hi-tech trash cans at 10 schools. The district has decided to extend its pilot program this year, owing to the positive results of its implementation. These bins have two compartments, one for organic waste and the other for other types of rubbish. Vietnamese Dance Team to Participate in Summer Festival in Japan

The Yosakoi Soran festival, one of Japan’s most renowned summer festivals, has been around for more than three decades. Since 1992, the Annual Naruko Festival has been held in Hokkaido at the beginning of June. People celebrate traditional music and dances performed with Naruko, an ancient Japanese percussion instrument. The festival is also marked by the singing of the traditional “Soran Bushi” song, which was once sung by local fishermen as they went herring fishing. At Sapporo Odori Park in Sapporo, Japan, dance teams competed for four days, from June 7-11. This year, for the first time, the festival utilized Virtual Reality (VR) technology to present 3D performances.
