Young Vietnamese artists draw inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints

There are 38 artworks created by young Vietnamese artists currently on display at the Temple of Literature. These unique pieces are inspired by Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints. The exhibition, titled “Dialogue with Japanese Ukiyo-e Woodblock Prints,” opened on January 23. Originating from the Edo period (1615-1868), these vibrant woodblock prints depict various scenes from everyday life in Japan. Ukiyo-e, which translates to “pictures of the floating world,” refers to the licensed brothel and theater districts in Japan’s major cities during the Edo period. The exhibition showcases 38 artworks by Vietnamese artists. Preparations for Global Rice Festival Completed

The occasion is expected to provide visitors with greater insights into the past, present, and future of the Vietnamese agriculture and rice industry. Currently, farmers in the locality are urgently completing the Vietnam Rice Road. The rice plants are put on display at the event. There are many rice varieties showcased on the road, including IR50404, OM 5454, Dai Thom 8, and ST 25. Various types of specialty fruit trees of Hau Giang are also showcased throughout the road. Ancient houses are made of bamboo, thatched with leaves and tools related to rice. The exhibition Water Installation and Heritage of Hang Dau Water Tower will open on November 17 as part of the Hanoi Creative Design Festival 2023. It is an art space of light installation made of recycled materials and a unique water sound system that reproduces the natural sound of water. The light installation expands the vision of the beautiful enclosures, while the materials, recycled from urban waste, emphasize the impact of the city on the natural environment. Open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the project was realized by architect Cao The Anh and artist Nguyen Duc Phuong. Through the exhibition, the artists hope to highlight the role of water in life and the connection between man and nature and to make people aware of the importance of preserving the natural environment. “Connecting Hanoi’s Art Scene: Bringing Together 80 International Artists from 30 Countries”

The Hanoi Art Connecting is happening at the Hanoi Architectural University from October 18 to 24. Vietnamese artist Vu Tuan Dat will be participating in Hanoi Art Connecting 2023. Hanoi Art Connecting (HAC) is now in its sixth edition, showcasing various artistic activities such as painting workshops, printmaking, sculpture, installation, and more. This year, the event brings together 80 international artists from 30 countries and 70 artists from Vietnam. Hanoi Art Connecting is an annual event held in Vietnam and other Asian countries. It was initiated by artist Trinh Tuan and Asia Art Link, an artist community in Asia. The event has attracted artists from the ASEAN region, Asia, Europe, and America. Over 300 children participated in a painting contest titled “I Love Hanoi – City for Peace” on the 69th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954). The “I love Hanoi – City for Peace” painting contest held in Hanoi on Oct 14 attracts more than 300 local and foreign children.
