International Flower Arrangement Contest Draws 200 Floral Designers to Da Lat

A piece makes uses of bamboo and popular flowers in Da Lat City. The contest jointly organised by the World Flower Council (WFC) and Da Lat University draws the participation of 200 local and foreign floral designers from 18 countries worldwide. A work introducing the country’s traditional culture is created by a Singaporean floral designer. The World Flower Council Summit 2023 is running with the theme of “Vietnam-Blooming with timeless charm” and welcomes more than 500 attendees who are famous designers, experts, flower arrangement artists, and scientists from across the globe. A team of distinguished comic book illustrators from the UK have arrived in Vietnam to offer complimentary children’s book illustration classes to aspiring young Vietnamese artists. Jan Fearnley, renowned illustrator of 26 bestselling children’s books, and Jane Buckley, award-winning art director of Simon & Schuster Publishing House, which is considered one of the world’s top five publishing houses for children’s books, are leading the classes. Japanese Lacquer Artist to Share Paintings with Hanoi Audience

The event is being held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan. The exhibition will showcase various artworks depicting the moon in different phases, seasons, weathers, times of day, and shades of color. These artworks will be accompanied by specifically chosen waka poems. The organizer highlights that the artworks and poems are displayed together. Saeko Ando, born in Japan in 1968, has become known for her traditional Vietnamese lacquer art and painting.
