US Congressman Praises Vietnam’s Ability to Foster a Free and Prosperous Indo-Pacific Region

Ami Bera, M.D. (D-CA), the Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Asia, the Pacific, Central Asia, and Nonproliferation for the 117th Congress, led a bipartisan U.S. Congressional delegation (CODEL) to Vietnam in October 2022. This was his second time leading a CODEL to Southeast Asia and the final trip of the 117th Congress. The visit took place ahead of the ASEAN Summits and East Asia Summit in November, highlighting the whole-of-government commitment to the region. Dr. Bera strongly believes that the Indo-Pacific is vital for U.S. national security and economic prosperity and commends the Biden Administration’s sustained high-level commitment to the region. Youths from Island Nations Participate in Contest to Gain Knowledge of National Sovereignty

Japanese pottery exhibition comes to Thua Thien – Hue

The event is jointly organised by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, the Hue Fine Arts Museum, and the Thua Thien-Hue province’s Vietnam – Japan Friendship Association. Doi Katsuma, director of the centre, said that it is hoped that through experiencing Yakishime ceramic products, the Vietnamese public will know more about the diversity and creativity of the Japanese culture. The exhibition, which runs until May 14, introduces the ceramics technique yakishime which fires unglazed wares at high temperatures. One of the most basic means of producing ceramics, Yakishime has been developed in numerous distinctive directions in Japan. The display aims to introduce local people to the Japanese culture by examining Yakishime from the earliest examples to contemporary works.
