According to Time and Date , a global website for time and time zones, sky gazers in the world’s most populated areas such as Eastern and Central Africa, Oceania, and Asia will be able to witness the penumbral lunar eclipse. In Ho Chi Minh City, the penumbral lunar eclipse will start at 22:14 on Friday and reach its maximum at 0:22 the next day. The event will end at 2:31 on Saturday. A penumbral eclipse takes place when the moon moves into the lighter outer region of the earth’s shadow, which is called the penumbra, according to space.com . This is an area in which the earth will cover part of the sun’s disk but not all of it. This means when the moon is within the penumbra, it receives less light from the sun and is dimmed. During a penumbral lunar eclipse, sky spectators will see the moon darken but not completely disappear. The moon during a penumbral lunar eclipse (R).
