Over the past 50 years, Belgium-Vietnam relations have constantly developed. The two countries share views on many issues, which is a good foundation to promote people-to-people relations. To achieve its goal of becoming a developed and high-income country by 2045, Vietnam needs support from partners, in which, Belgium has expertise and experience in responding to climate change and sustainable development.

Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga introduced the role and position of the Viet Nam Union of Friendship Organizations. Among its members, Vietnam – Belgium Friendship Association has made numerous contributions to enhancing people-to-people exchanges, connecting universities and businesses of the two countries.

According to Pierre Grega, Belgium – Vietnam Friendship Association is rooted in the Belgian student movement to support Vietnam’s struggle for national liberation. Currently, the Association holds activities to support Vietnamese students in Belgium, connect universities, support Agent Orange victims, and strengthen people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Towards the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam-Belgium diplomatic relations (March 22, 1973 – March 22, 2023) and the 50th anniversary of the Association’s establishment, Pierre Grega hopes to connect friendship associations with Vietnam in European countries, strengthen multilateral exchanges, organize seminars and talks on the bilateral relations.
