Vietnam-Japan opera project “Anio Princess” introduced
Upon addressing the function, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Vu underscored the importance of the cultural event to the citizens of the two countries.
The Deputy Minister added that through the touching love story of a Japanese merchant and Vietnamese princess Ngoc Hoa, the opera project can provide an overall picture of the two countries’ strong diplomatic ties which date back to the early 17th century.
He noted that the introduction of the opera and other important activities will allow people to learn more about the respective cultures of both countries, further bolstering the traditional friendship whilst bringing prosperity and contributing to promoting peace and stability within the region.

As an honorary consultant for the project, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Yamada Takio expressed his desire to see the opera help people reminisce about the shared history between the two nations, as well as further promoting cohesion among people of both sides in the future.
The project is being implemented by the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra in collaboration with the Executive Board of “Princess Anio” in order to promote the traditional friendship and musical cultures between Vietnam and Japan and ahead of an upcoming concert in September 2023, at the Hanoi Opera House.
